Bulldogs Split Two Matches on Day Two of Juniata Tournament

Huntingdon, PA (October 26, 2013) – The DeSales University volleyball team split two matches on day two of the Wild Guisler Invitational held at Juniata College, falling to host Juniata, 3-0, before topping Johns Hopkins University in a tough five-set match, 3-2.

The Bulldogs improve to 16-13 with the split.  Freshman Lauren Hess was the lone Bulldog named to the All-Tournament Team, finishing with 55 kills in the three matches over the weekend.

On Saturday in the loss to 11th ranked Juniata, Hess led the way with six kills and five digs.  Graduate student Justine McNulty had five kills and 14 assists, while senior Madeline Svrcek and junior Amanda Wallitsch each had nine digs.

In the second match of the day, Hess finished with 24 kills and added two blocks.  Senior Macy Farrell also played well with 11 kills and two blocks and freshman Arielle Nicholson finished with seven kills and a .312 hitting percentage.  Junior Chrissy Banos led the way with four blocks.

Defensively, A. Wallitsch led the way with 28 digs and Svrcek had 21 digs to go along with seven kills.  Freshman Lisa Wallitsch finished with 43 assists and 23 digs and McNulty added 12 digs.

The Bulldogs return to action, wrapping Freedom Conference play on Wednesday evening when they host King's College beginning at 7:00 pm.
