Center Valley, PA (October 29, 2013) – Junior Alison Malatesta scored unassisted with 4:26 left in regulation to tie the score but King's College broke the tie 1:25 into the second overtime handing the DeSales University field hockey team to its second straight double overtime loss, 2-1, on Tuesday afternoon.

The Bulldogs finish the regular season with an 8-9 overall record and a 4-3 mark in the Freedom Conference.  DSU will be the #3 seed in the Freedom Conference playoffs which will begin next week, Wednesday, November 6th with the semifinals.  DSU will be on the road at either Delaware Valley College or Wilkes University pending the results of the other two games yet to be played tonight.

King's opened the scoring today with just 4:05 left in the opening half when Alyssa Monaghan scored on a hard shot off a corner feed from Abby McManus.

The one-goal Lady Monarch lead remained into the 66th minute when Malatesta took control of a loose ball in the circle and fired a shot into the cage for her fourth tally of the season, tying the score at one.

Both teams had chances in the first overtime but neither was able to capitalize and in the second OT, Monaghan broke free on the right side and KC had a 2-on-1 break in which Monaghan fired a shot just inside the circle that hit the far post and caromed into the cage ending the game.

Sophomore Becky Rasmuson was strong in the cage yet again making 10 saves.  King's out-shot DeSales, 22-18, and held a 13-10 edge in penalty corners in a very evenly played game.

All of the details regarding DSU's next game which will be on Wednesday, November 6th in the Freedom Conference semifinals will be announced on the web site when they become available.
