Center Valley, PA (August 31, 2013) – The Bulldogs fought back in the first match of the day, shaking off a first set loss to defeat Ithaca College, 3-1 (19-25, 25-20, 26-24, 25-21), before falling in three to Cabrini College in the second match of the day (25-20, 25-21, 25-14), to finish in second place in its own opening weekend tournament.
Graduate student
Justine McNulty was named to the All-Tournament Team for the Bulldogs as she finished the weekend with 90 assists (7.50 aps) and 36 digs (3.0 dps) for DeSales.
On Saturday, freshman
Lauren Hess was again the leader totaling 19 kills and a .238 hitting percentage in the come from behind win over Ithaca. Junior
Chrissy Banos totaled seven kills and added three blocks and freshman
Arielle Nicholson contributed four blocks in the win. Junior
Amanda Wallitsch finished with 15 digs and freshman
Lisa Wallitsch played well with 30 assists.
In the second match, senior
Madeline Svrcek led the way with 10 kills and hit .250 for the match, while fellow senior
Macy Farrell had six kills. A. Wallitsch finished with 13 digs and Svrcek added 11 digs. McNulty had 25 assists and nine digs and Banos led the way with three blocks in the loss.
The Bulldogs are off for the next six days and will return to action next Friday when they travel crosstown to the Buttermaker Tournament at Muhlenberg College.
