DeSales Drops Two on Day Two of Trinity (TX) Invitational

San Antonio, TX (September 14, 2013) – The DeSales University volleyball team battled but came up empty dropping its final two matches on Saturday morning at the Trinity University (TX) Invitational.

DSU fell to Whitworth College in the first match of the day, 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-20), and 3-0 to Mary Hardin-Baylor in the second match, 3-0 (25-15, 25-19, 25-17).

In the Whitworth match, freshman Lauren Hess led the Bulldogs with six kills, senior Emilie Baker had five kills, and senior Madeline Svrcek and freshman Arielle Nicholson each had four kills.  Svrcek and freshman Lisa Wallitsch each had 10 digs and graduate student Justine McNulty finished with 12 assists and seven digs.

In the UMHB match, Hess, sophomore Kait Anderson, and Baker all had six kills to lead the way.  Anderson added two blocks and junior Chrissy Banos had three blocks.  McNulty finished with 24 assists and L. Wallitsch had a team-high nine digs.

The Bulldogs will return to action on Wednesday, September 18th  when they host Delaware Valley College in the Freedom Conference season opener beginning at 7:00 pm.
