New York, NY (September 21, 2013) – The DeSales University volleyball team split its two matches on day two of the NYU Invitational defeating Rochester Institute of Technology, 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 25-16), before falling 3-1 to UMASS-Boston (25-18, 18-25, 25-23, 25-22). Freshman
Lauren Hess was the lone Bulldog named to the All-Tournament Team.
In the first match, DSU cruised in straight set as Hess led the way with 14 kills and hit .333. Freshman
Arielle Nicholson added five kills and hit .444, while junior
Chrissy Banos contributed four kills and five blocks.

Lisa Wallitsch had 22 assists and seven digs and junior
Amanda Wallitsch had a match-high 19 digs. Graduate student
Justine McNulty finished with 11 digs.
In the second match after splitting the first two sets, UMASS Boston squezzed out a two-point and three-point win in sets three and four to earn the victory. Hess again led the offense with 12 kills and senior
Emilie Baker played well with 10 kills and hit .250 for the match.
Nicholson added six kills and two blocks, L. Wallitsch had 29 assists and 12 digs, and A. Wallitsch led the team with 19 digs. Senior
Madeline Svrcek finished with 11 digs and two blocks in the loss and McNulty had five service aces.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Tuesday, September 24th when they travel to Eastern University for a rematch of last year's Freedom Conference title match beginning at 7:00 pm.
