Bulldogs Squander First-Half Lead in 2-1 Loss at Gwynedd-Mercy

Gwynedd-Valley, PA (September 23, 2013) – Junior Alison Malatesta scored her first goal of the season, unassisted in the first half, but DSU was unable to hold a 1-0 halftime lead in a 2-1 loss at Gwynedd-Mercy College on Monday afternoon in non-conference action.

Malatesta scored unassisted at 16:07 to give the Bulldogs (3-4) a 1-0 lead that stood into the half despite being outshot 9-3 in the opening 35 minutes.

The lead remained into the 46th minute when GMC tied the game at one as Tori Corbin scored on a penalty corner off an assist from Megan Senkeleski.  The Griffins then scored the game-winner at 62:05, an unassisted tally from Katie O'Neill.

GMC held a 20-6 lead in shots and a 14-3 advantage in penalty corners for the game.  Sophomore Becky Rasmuson played well in goal, making seven saves in the loss.

DSU returns to action on Friday when they travel to Delaware Valley College for the first Freedom Conference game of the season beginning at 4:00 pm.
