Mahwah, NJ (September 7, 2013) – The DeSales University field hockey team opened up a 3-0 lead and never looked back earning its first win of the season and its first win at Ramapo College in five career visits to Mahwah, NJ, 3-1, on Saturday afternoon.

Sophomore Meryah Harding started the scoring just 6:30 into the game when she fired a shot off a corner feed from junior Alyssa Malatesta into the cage.  That goal stood into the half and into the 51st minute before anyone scored again.

DSU made it a 2-0 game at 50:43 when junior Rachel Wysocky scored on a penalty stroke and senior Jen Burley put the game out of reach with her first career tally, an unassisted goal at 56:38.  Ramapo scored its lone goal at 61:55 but sophomore Becky Rasmuson made two saves and closed the door on and more Roadrunner goals in the win.

The Bulldogs out-shot Ramapo, 17-7, and held a 14-8 advantage in penalty corners.

DSU returns to action on Wednesday, September 11th when they travel to William Paterson University for a non-conference game beginning at 7:00 pm.
