Newark, NJ (September 7, 2013) – A goal with just one second left in the first half gave the momentum to Drew University and the Rangers never looked back in a 3-0 win over the DeSales University men's soccer team on Saturday evening at the Scarlet Raiders Soccer Classic.
A scoreless game late in the first-half became a 1-0 Ranger lead when
Dylan Hammer scored with just one second left on the first-half clock, giving Drew a ton of momentum headed into the second-half in which the Rangers out-shot DeSales, 13-7, and 22-9 for the game en route to a 3-0 win.
The Bulldogs were also playing without their starting goalkeeper as junior
Phil Bortz made his first career start in between the pipes and made five saves.
DeSales returns to action tomorrow when they take on tournament host Rutgers-Newark beginning at 5:00 pm.
