Allentown, PA (September 7, 2013) – Junior
Amanda Wallitsch recorded her 1,000th career dig and was named to the BUttermaker Tournament All-Tournament Team leading the DeSales University volleyball team to sweeps of Neumann University and Moravian College on Saturday.
The Bulldogs post a 3-1 record in the two-day tournament with their two wins on Saturday. DSU defeated Neumann, 3-0 (27-25, 25-22, 25-18) and Moravian, 3-0 (26-24, 25-17, 25-8), and improves to 6-2 on the year.
In the first match of the day, junior
Chrissy Banos, sophomore
Kait Anderson, and senior
Madeline Svrcek each had a team-high five kills to lead the attack. Freshman
Arielle Nicholson had four kills and six blocks. Freshman
Lisa Wallitsch tallied 24 assists and eight digs, Svrcek added eight digs, and A. Wallitsch had a team-high 23 digs. She became the 13th player in school-history to record 1,000 career digs in the match and was the lone Bulldog named to the All-Tournament Team for the weekend.
In the second match, freshman
Lauren Hess had 11 kills on just 24 attempts with no errors. Nicholson added seven kills and two blocks and senior
Emilie Baker had four kills on just seven attempts. Graduate student
Justine McNulty had 22 assists and six digs, A. Wallitsch had 18 digs, and L. Wallitsch finished with 15 digs.
The Bulldogs return to action on Tuesday, September 10th when they travel to local rival Moravian College for a rematch of today's match-up beginning at 7:00 pm.
