Madison, NJ (October 17, 2014) – FDU-Florham scored with just 1:33 left in the first overtime handing the DeSales University men's soccer team a 1-0 loss in Freedom Conference action on Saturday morning.
The Bulldogs (5-10-1, 0-4 Freedom) have dropped five straight with the loss and continue to struggle finding the back of the net having scored just two goals in the last five games after torching Albright College for six goals in the second-half of their last win.
FDU nearly won the game with 30 seconds left in regulation when the Devils were awarded a penalty kick but senior
Damien Romaine, making his first start of the season, saved the PK try as the game moved to overtime.
Both teams had two shots in the extra period before FDU broke the scoreless tie when
Tommy Asselta scored with just 1:33 left before the second extra period ending the game.
FDU had an 18-7 advantage in shots and a 13-4 edge in corner kicks. Romaine finished the game with seven saves.
The Bulldogs will return to action on Wednesday, October 22
nd when they travel to Delaware Valley College for another Freedom Conference game beginning at 3:30 pm.
