Bulldogs Roll past Moravian, 79-57; Deal Nets Career-High

Bethlehem, PA (November 25, 2014) – Junior Cody Deal scored a career-high 24 points leading the DeSales University men's basketball team to a dominating performance over local rival Moravian College, 79-57, in non-conference action on Tuesday evening in Johnston Hall.

Deal shot 8-for-15 from the field an also pulled down seven rebounds in the win.  Sophomore Brian Laird added 13 points, one shy of his career-high, off the bench as the only two players in double digits as 11 different players reached the scoring column in the win.

Brandon McGuire led the Moravian (1-4 overall) with 10 points as the lone player in double digits.  MC shot just 26.9 percent from the floor and were 5-for-28 from three-point land.

A three from Laird at the 11:35 mark of the first sparked an 8-1 run that pushed a three-point lead into a 10-point lead with 8:46 left in the opening half and the Bulldogs finished the half on a 18-5 run to take a 45-22 lead into the locker room.

DSU (4-1 overall) hit 51.6 percent from the field in the opening half as compared to just 23.5 percent shooting for the Greyhounds.

The Bulldogs cruised in the second-half as the lead ballooned to as many as 36 points (72-36) with 6:34 left to play before the final 22-point margin was posted.

DeSales controlled the glass, 52-46, led by sophomore Ryan Callahan who pulled down a career-high nine boards and senior Travis Bryan who grabbed seven boards and blocked three shots in the middle.

The Bulldogs take a quick break for the Thanksgiving holiday, returning to action on Sunday afternoon when they host Catholic University in a non-conference game beginning at 3:00 pm in Billera Hall.
