St. David's, PA (February 22, 2014) – Senior Kyle Hash scored a career-high 23 points but it wasn't enough as Eastern University finished the game on a 12-7 run to pull out a 78-70 win in the final game of the Freedom Conference regular season schedule on Saturday afternoon.

Despite the loss, the Bulldogs (16-9, 10-4 Freedom) finish as the top seed for next week's Freedom Conference Tournament and will host the #4 seed, Manhattanville College, who earns the tiebreaker over King's and Delaware Valley to take the top spot.  Misericordia University is the #2 seed and will host the third seed FDU-Florham in the other semifinal on Wednesday.  Game time is set for 7:00 pm in Billera Hall for the Bulldogs match-up with the Valiants.

Hash hit on 9-of-14 from the field and added five rebounds, while seniors Mike Coleman and Andrew Kohler each added 10 points in the loss.  Kohler pulled down a game-high eight rebounds and added three blocks.

Malcolm Harrison finished with 17 points and four steals in the win, while freshman Shaquan Turk and Ben Connor totaled 14 points in the win for the Eagles (11-14, 5-9 Freedom).

A tie game at 55 was broken by EU's Harrison who hit a three from the top of the key at the 7:29 mark but Hash answered with a lay-up and a foul but missed the free throw as Eastern clung to a one-point lead.

The two teams exchanged free throws over the next few minutes and it was a three-point lead for the Eagles at the 2:27 mark after two free throws from Hash.  DSU got a defensive stop on the next EU possession and called timeout.  Out of the timeout, Coleman found sophomore Cody Deal at the top of the key for a wide open three but his attempt went off the back iron and Caleb Knudson hit two free throws with 1:31 left to make it a five-point game (68-63).

Deal missed a short jumper on the baseline but Kohler was there for the offensive board giving DSU another possession but Coleman lost control of the ball and the Eagles' Jordan Diggs hit two free throws making it a seven-point game (70-63) with 49 ticks left.

DSU got within six on a Hash triple with 27 seconds left but Eastern hit 10-of-10 from the foul line over the final 90 seconds and 4-for-4 over the final 23 seconds to ice the win.

The Bulldogs led early, 18-14, at the 12:03 mark of the first-half when Eastern used a 9-0 run to take a 23-18 lead and led by as many as 10 points in the first-half before DSU closed the half on a 7-2 run to trail, 36-31, heading into the locker room.

DSU finished the game shooting 45.3 percent from the field and out-rebounded Eastern, 40-28.  Eastern enjoyed a healthy advantage on the foul line hitting 25-of-33 from the charity stripe as compared to just 7-of-9 for the Bulldogs.
