Malatesta Goal Late in First OT Lifts Bulldogs to Third Straight Win

Wayne, NJ (September 10, 2014) – Senior Alyssa Malatesta finished a pass from her sister, fellow senior Alison Malatesta, with just 24 seconds left in the first overtime period giving the DeSales University field hockey team its third straight win, 1-0, over William Paterson University on Wednesday evening.
 
The Bulldogs have now won three straight all via shutout which breaks the team record for consecutive shutout wins as well as the consecutive scoreless mark which now stands at 253:50 straight minutes without allowing a goal.
 
DSU nearly won the game with less than two minutes in regulation when senior Rachel Wysocky took a penalty stroke that hit off the post as the game went into overtime.
 
DeSales enjoyed a 12-6 edge in shots and each team had 10 penalty corners.  DSU dominated overtime with a 5-0 edge in shots.
 
Senior Becky Rasmuson was once again strong in between the pipes recording four saves.
 
The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday when they travel to Marywood University for another non-conference game beginning at 1:00 pm.
