Bulldogs Blank Albright, 3-0, for Hansrote First Win

Senior Alessandra Farnesi was outstanding on defense in the 3-0 shutout win over Albright College on Wednesday.

Center Valley, PA (September 3, 2014) – Junior Becky Rasumson made four saves behind a stout Bulldog defense as the DeSales University field hockey team blanked Albright College, 3-0, giving first year head coach Brittany Hansrote her first collegiate win as a head coach on sunny Wednesday afternoon.
 
DSU (1-1) enjoyed an 18-9 advantage in shots and a 9-5 edge in penalty corners in the win.  Rasmuson made three of her four saves in the second-half preserving a 2-0 halftime lead.
 
Senior Alyssa Malatesta got the scoring started tipping in shot from junior Meryah Harding off a corner at the 21:35 mark.  Junior Jesse Marshall made it 2-0 just 2:18 before the half knocking in a Harding shot that was blocked just in front of the goalkeeper's pads.
 
Senior Alison Malatesta tallied the lone second half goal taking a long pass ahead of everyone from Marshall and firing a shot into the left corner past a charging keeper at 49:17. 
 
The Bulldogs will look to make it two straight on Sunday when they return to action hosting Elmira College beginning at 1:00 pm.
