Bulldogs Split Matches on Day One of Buttermaker Tournament

Allentown, PA (September 5, 2014) – Freshman Logan Wieziolowski and Sienna Heist combined for 16 kills and just four errors to lead the Bulldogs past Elizabethtown, 3-0, as the DeSales University volleyball team split its two matches on day one of the Buttermaker Volleyball Tournament hosted by Muhlenberg College on Friday evening.
 
DSU (4-2 overall) swept Elizabethtown by scores of 25-15, 25-21, 25-18 before dropping a four-set match to Shenandoah University, 3-1 (21-25, 20-25, 25-23, 19-25).  The Bulldogs will return to action tomorrow taking on Moravian College and FDU-Florham at Noon and 2:00 pm.
 
In the win over the Blue Jays, Wieziolowski hit .316 with nine kills and two blocks, while Heist hit .318 with eight kills and a block.  Senior Julie Blessing added seven kills and senior Brooke Horrigan had four kills and four blocks.  Senior Chrissy Banos also added six kills and three blocks.
 
Sophomore Lisa Wallitsch finished with 30 assists and senior Amanda Wallitsch had 14 digs in the win.  Freshman Bernadette Wood finished with 13 digs in the win.
 
In the loss to Shenandoah Blessing led the charge with a match-high 18 kills and hit .267.  Heist added 12 kills and hit .300, while Banos finished with nine kills and five blocks and Wieziolowski totaled eight kills.  L. Wallitsch had 40 assists, A. Wallitsch totaled 24 digs and junior Lizzi Levis had a strong game with 16 digs.
