Immaculata, PA (October 1, 2015) – Sophomore
Tess Luzi scored two goals leading the DeSales University field hockey team past Immaculata University, 4-2, on a rainy non-conference game on Thursday afternoon.
The win snaps a three-game slide for the Bulldogs (2-8) heading into DSU's second MAC Freedom game this weekend at Wilkes University.
Senior
Meryah Harding got DSU on the board just 9:38 into the game as she scored on a rocket from the top of the circle off an assist from freshman
Chelsea DeFrancisco.
Junior
Nicola McDermott gave DeSales a 2-0 lead just 6:14 later smacking home a loose ball in front of the Immaculata (0-11) goalie just in front of the goal and Luzi made it 3-0 in the 27
th minute tipping home a pass from junior
Alexa Beaumont at 26:33.
IU got one goal back with time expired on the first-half off a penalty corner as the halftime score stood at 3-1.
Neither team could find the back of the cage till the very end of the second-half. Luzi essentially iced the win with just 1:43 left to play on DeFrancisco's second assist of the game before the Mighty Macs again scored with no time left in the game on a penalty stroke by
Nicole Dominick.
