Emily Hoats made four saves and the DeSales University broke two team records recording its fifth straight shutout win, blanking Eastern University, 2-0, in MAC Freedom action on Saturday afternoon.
Three records went down on Saturday as the Bulldogs (10-4, 4-0 MAC Freedom) broke the team record for consecutive shutouts with five and consecutive shutout minutes now at 461:05 with the zero posted today. Hoats also broke the individual goalie record for consecutive shutout minutes as she has been in goal for all 461:05 over the last six games breaking the old mark held by
Alex Bastinelli at 397:27.
DeSales also posts its 10
th win of the season, marking just the fourth time in team history the Bulldogs have won 10+ games. DSU stands two wins shy of tying the school-record for wins (12) set in 2001.
Freshman
Sydney Gandy got the scoring started on Saturday as she finished a pass from sophomore
Gabby Lucchese with just 3:34 left in the first-half to record her third goal of the year as that score stood into the half.
Lucchese then got into the scoring act helping DSU add an insurance goal knocking home the rebound off a saved shot off the boot of junior
Rachel Shive in the 80
th minute.
DSU held an 11-7 advantage in shots and a 4-2 edge in corner kicks over Eastern (6-8-1, 2-2 MAC Freedom).
The Bulldogs return home on Wednesday, October 21
st when they host Delaware Valley University for a MAC Freedom game beginning at 3:00 pm.
