Dallas, PA (October 31, 2015) – Freshman
Zach Reichard scored in the 104
th minute of the second overtime leading the DeSales University men's soccer team past Misericordia University, 1-0, in the regular season finale for both teams on Saturday evening.
Unfortunately DeSales (8-8-2, 3-2-2 MAC Freedom) didn't get the help it needed to qualify for the MAC Freedom postseason tournament finishing in fifth place, just one point behind Manhattanville College in the regular season standings.
DSU's season isn't necessarily over however as the win did make the Bulldogs the ECAC eligible (finishing with a .500 or better record) but DeSales will have to wait till Monday, November 9
th when the ECAC Tournament field is announced whether they will get to play at least one more game.
Impressively, the Bulldogs win gave them a five-game unbeaten streak as DSU finishes the regular season with two ties and three straight wins.
Reichard's goal was the eighth of the season for the freshman phenom as senior
Patrick Roche earned the assist on the play.
Sophomore
Dan Sulpizio was sensational in goal for DeSales as he made 12 saves in the win to record his fourth shutout of the year.
