Bethany, WV (November 11, 2015) – The DeSales University volleyball team saw its 2015 season come to a close falling at Bethany College (WV), 3-1 (21-25), 25-17, 25-9, 25-20), in the ECAC South Region Tournament Quarterfinals on Wednesday evening.
The Bulldogs finish the year with a 22-12 overall record. It is DSU's second straight 20+ win season and the sixth in head coach
Michele Zabinski's 11-year coaching career.
DeSales took the first set on Wednesday, outlasting the Bison (30-9), 25-21, in the opening frame. Bethany took control with wins in the second and third set before the Bulldogs started quickly in the fourth set.
DSU opened the fourth scoring six straight points to take an 8-3 lead to force a Bethany timeout. The Bison responded with five straight points of their own to tie the match at nine. The set went back and forth over the next few points as the Bulldogs eventually trailed 22-20 before BC scored the final three points to win the match.
Freshman
Gabby Savite' led the Bulldogs with 16 kills and 14 digs and sophomore
Logan Wieziolowski added eight kills and four blocks.
Junior
Lisa Wallitsch finished with 28 assists, four aces, and 13 digs, while freshman
Natalie Gray (16 digs) and sophomore
Bernadette Wood totaled 10 digs in the loss.
