Center Valley, PA (November 14, 2015) – The DeSales University men's basketball team used a 22-8 second-half run to open up a 14-point lead and never looked back recording an 85-70 win over PSU-Berks in the 2005-16 season opener for both teams on Saturday evening in Billera Hall.
Junior
Kuity Slanger had a terrific game scoring a new career-high 22 points on a very efficient 8-for-10 shooting effort. Sophomore
Aaron Burton finished with 19 points and eight rebounds, senior
Cody Deal added 17 points and eight rebounds, and sophomore
Brandon Bridy totaled 14 points, five rebounds, and five assists in his first action as Bulldog to lead the way.
PSU-Berks (0-1) torched the nets in the first-half hitting 58.6 percent from the field en route to a slim two0-point lead, 38-36.
The two teams traded baskets over the first 7:11 of the second-half. With the score tied at 51 for the 12
th time in the game the Bulldogs (1-0) took over using a 22-8 run to put the game out of reach. Deal and Burton both two three's and had eight points during the spurt.
The Nittany Lions never got any closer than eight points twice the rest of the way with the lead peaking at 17 once.
Berks was led
Baba Waples with 16 points,
Dameon Nixon with 11 points, and
Michael Aldridge with 10 points.
DSU dominated the glass, 41-29, and shot a scorching 63.3 percent from the field in the second-half.
DeSales returns to action on Tuesday when they travel to Rosemont College for a non-conference game beginning at 8:00 pm.
