Nate Blevins and sophomore
Justin Wilson each had hat tricks leading the DeSales University men's lacrosse team to an important 10-6 win over Misericordia University in Freedom Conference action on Wednesday afternoon.
The Bulldogs (4-6, 1-2 Freedom) out-shot Misericordia (6-6, 1-2 Freedom), 41-32, for the game and held a 41-29 advantage in ground balls. DSU also forced 22 Cougar turnovers and won 10-of-19 face-offs.
After taking a 3-2 lead in the first quarter, DSU dominated the scoring in the second quarter scoring the only two goals in the period to take a three-goal advantage into the half.
After the two teams traded goals over the first 61 seconds of the second-half, the Bulldogs took the game over scoring four straight goals early into the fourth quarter to take a 10-3 lead and never looked back from there.
Blevins added two assists to his three goals, while freshman
Josh Harman, freshman
Joe Neggia, senior
Ryan Rowse, and senior
Ryan Loughlin all scored in the win. Rowse added two assists and Neggia and Harman each had one helper.
Senior
Dylan Baxter won 10-of-19 face-offs and had six ground balls. Senior
Bryan Correnti picked up seven ground balls and Neggia had six ground balls. Junior
Matt Warnken was outstanding in between the pipes making 13 saves, including five in the fourth quarter.
The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday when they host Eastern University in another Freedom Conference game beginning at 1:00 pm.
