Center Valley, PA (April 27, 2015) – Playing their seventh game in the last five days the DeSales University baseball team ran out of gas falling to local rival Muhlenberg College, 12-3, snapping DSU's 10-game winning streak in non-conference action on Monday afternoon at Butz Field.
After a scoreless first inning the Mules (14-19) scored in every inning from the second thru seventh innings, crossing home plate five times in the seventh to break the game open in the nine run win.
DSU did get on the scoreboard in the fifth when freshman
Conner Lafferty tripled and came around to score on an RBI groundout from sophomore
Richie Lancashire. The Bulldogs also got a run in the seventh when sophomore
Tommy DePaul singled home sophomore
Jesse Smoot and scored an unearned run in the ninth after Lafferty singled to lead off the frame.
Junior
Chris Polaski took the loss lasting just four innings allowing seven hits, five runs, and walking four. DePaul finished with three hits and Lafferty and sophomore
Danny Licamara each had two hits in the loss.
The Bulldogs get a much needed day off tomorrow and will host Misericordia University in a Freedom Conference game on Wednesday afternoon beginning at 3:30 pm.
