Center Valley, PA (September 5, 2015) – The DeSales University field hockey team scored first but Gettysburg College controlled play the rest of the way spoiling the Bulldogs' home opener on the new turf field, 5-1, on Saturday afternoon.
Senior
Meryah Harding scored the historic first-ever goal on the turf field, taking a pass from fellow senior
Jesse Marshall off a penalty corner in the circle and firing a shot into the cage at the 12:29 mark. The Bullets (2-0) answered back in the 21
st minute and took a 2-1 lead in the 27
th minute that stood into the half.
The second-half was all Gettysburg as the Bullets scored three more times and the Bulldogs were unable to recover.
Freshman
Savanna Lacek made 18 saves in goal for the Bulldogs as Gettysburg out-shot DeSales, 36-16, and had a 15-6 edge in penalty corners.
The Bulldogs return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Albright College for a non-conference game beginning at 4:00 pm.
