Bulldogs Split Two Matches on Day Two of Home Inv.

Center Valley, PA (September 5, 2015) – The DeSales University volleyball team split two matches on Saturday afternoon falling to Washington College (MD), 3-0, before rebounding with a 3-1 win over Baruch College.
 
The Bulldogs (4-1) finish the tournament with a 3-1 record to take second place out of five teams.  Sophomore Logan Wieziolowski was named to the All-Tournament Team for DeSales.
 
Match #1 (3-0 Loss – 25-27, 24-26, 12-25)
The first two sets were extremely tight.  In the first set the Bulldogs trailed 24-23 but scored the next two points to have a set point but three straight points from WC gave the Shorewomen a 27-25 win.  In the second set DeSales stormed out to a 7-0 lead before WC quickly closed the gap and tied the set at eight.
 
The Bulldogs still led 21-17 late in the set before the Shorewomen scored six of the next seven points to take a 23-22 lead.  After exchanging points the score was tied at 24 and WC scored two straight points on kills to take a 2-0 lead and dominated the third set to sweep DSU.
 
Both Wieziolowski and freshman Gabby Savite' had 10 kills in the loss.  Wieziolowski added six blocks and Savite had 17 digs.  Junior Lisa Wallitsch finished with 33 assists and freshman Natalie Gray added four aces and 14 digs.  Senior Kait Anderson had seven kills.
 
Match #2 (3-1 Win, 25-16, 25-19, 23-25, 25-12)
The Bulldogs controlled play in the first two sets before committing 12 hitting errors and five service errors in the third set as Baruch squeezed out a win.  DSU regrouped and dominated the fourth set in the 3-1 win.
 
Savite led the offensive charge with 12 kills and Wieziolowski had 11 kills.  Savite added three blocks, five aces, and 10 digs.  Wallitsch finished with 36 assists, five aces, and nine digs and Gray totaled a team-high 23 digs and two aces.  Freshman Taylor Antoniewicz played well with eight kills and three digs.
 
The Bulldogs return to action on Wednesday when they host Marywood University in a non-conference match beginning at 7:00 pm.
