Center Valley, PA (January 27, 2016) – The DeSales University men's basketball team used a 10-0 run late in the second-half breaking a tie at 68 in an 81-75 win over Eastern University in MAC Freedom action on Wednesday evening in Billera Hall.
Sophomore
Aaron Burton led the way starting the game deciding 10-0 run with a short jumper in the lane at the 2:25 mark. He finished with his first career double-double with 17 points and a career-high 15 rebounds in the win. Senior
Cody Deal also recorded a double-double with 25 points and 10 rebounds, junior
Kuity Slanger finished with 16 points, and junior
Ryan Callahan totaled 10 points and four blocks in the win.
Shaquan Turk scored a game-high 29 points and senior
Malcolm Garrison finished with 20 points in the loss for Eastern (9-9, 3-4 MAC Freedom).
Both teams struggled to shoot the ball in the first-half as DSU (13-5, 5-2 MAC Freedom) hit just 12-for-40 (30.0%) from the field over the first twenty minutes and Eastern hit just 35.3 percent but 6-0 run over the final 3:05 of the half gave the Bulldogs a 35-33 lead at the break.
The Bulldogs looked ready to run away with the game early in the second-half using a 15-2 run over a span of 3:22 after the Eagles scored the first basket of the half to take a 50-37 lead on back-to-back 3's from Burton and Deal but EU countered with a 9-0 run of its own to cut the margin down to two points (56-54) at the 10:57 mark.
Eastern kept chipping away at a slim Bulldogs lead and broke thru at the 5:28 mark as Turk hit an off balance lay-up giving the Eagles a 67-66 lead.
The game was tied at 68 with 3:28 to go when Burton's short jumper in the lane at the 2:25 mark started the game clinching 10-0 run and the Bulldogs iced the win at the free throw line over the final 40 seconds stay in sole possession of second place in the MAC Freedom standings.
The Bulldogs torched the nets in the second-half hitting 62.5 percent from the field and dominated the glass out-rebounding Eastern, 52-27, leading to a 26-2 advantage in second chance points.

A.B.E. Doors and Windows Player of the Game honors recording his first career double-double with a career-high in rebounds in the win.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Saturday when they travel to King's College for the first game of the second-half of the MAC Freedom scheduled with tip set for 3:00 pm.
