Alexa Beaumont and
Nicola McDermott each scored a goal and added an assist leading the DeSales University field hockey team past Immaculata University, 3-0, in non-conference action on Thursday afternoon.
The Bulldogs (5-9 overall) record their second shutout of the season, out-shooting IU (5-10 overall), 23-6, for the game and holding a 12-8 advantage in penalty corners.
Freshman
Christie Hansen scored the game's first goal on a penalty stroke after an IU player stopped a shot from going in the cage with her foot just 1:36 into the game. It was Hansen's third tally of the season.
Just under five minutes later DSU took a 2-0 lead when McDermott took a short pass from Beaumont in the box and scored her second goal of the year as that score stood into the half.
The senior duo connected again in reverse roles in the second-half in the 42nd minute when McDermott slotted a short pass to Beaumont who tallied her second goal of the year to post the final tally.
Freshman
Katarina Polyviou made three saves in the cage to earn her second shutout of the season.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Saturday when they travel to FDU-Florham for a MAC Freedom game beginning at 11:00 am.
