Balanced Attack Leads Men's Basketball in 94-60 Win in Season Opener

Center Valley, PA (November 15, 2016) - Four players reached double digits and 12 different players scored as the DeSales University men's basketball team shot 66.7 percent from the field rolling past Rosemont College, 94-60, in the season opener for both teams on Tuesday evening in Billera Hall.

The Bulldogs (1-0) broke open a close game at the 10:57 mark of the first-half using a 16-0 run over the span of 3:30 to take a commanding 38-18 lead before doubling up the Ravens (0-1) at the half, 52-26.  Senior Joe Lococo highlighted the run with six points and freshman Tracy Simsick and junior Connor Jones each hit 3's during the spurt.

DSU finished the game shooting 66.7 percent (32-for-48) from the field and out-rebounded Rosemont, 35-22.  The Bulldogs also canned 66.7 percent from three-point land (12-for-18).

Jones led all scorers with 16 points off the bench hitting 4-of-5 from outside the arc.  Lococo tossed in 12 in his first game as a Bulldog and senior Ryan Callahan and Simsick each added tallies.  Sophomore Luke Connaghan added nine points and a team-high six rebounds, senior Brian Laird moved into sixth place all-time with two 3's and nine points, and freshman Kweku Dawson-Amoah added eight points.  Senior Kuity Slanger stuffed the stat sheet with five points, five rebounds, six assists, and two steals in just 21 minutes of action.

Rosemont got 13 points from Clayton Wolfe and 12 tallies from Jamier Hughes in the loss.

The Bulldogs return to action on Friday when they travel to the Ted Coghlin Memorial Tournament at WPI to take on Bates College on the first day beginning at 7:30 pm.
