Women’s Soccer Begins Title Defense Tonight at Wilkes

Center Valley, PA (November 2, 2016) – The DeSales University women's soccer team begins its MAC Freedom title defense tonight when the third seeded Bulldogs travel to second seeded Wilkes University for a rematch of last season's championship game in the MAC Freedom semifinals with kickoff set for 7:00 pm.
 
The Bulldogs earned the #3 seed in the postseason tournament having posted an 8-9 overall record and a 4-3 mark in the MAC Freedom, while the Colonels finished the regular season with a 7-10 overall mark and a 5-2 record in MAC Freedom play.
 
Game time is set for 7:00 pm and admission will be charged for the event and is set at $5.00 for adults, $4.00 for seniors, and $2.00 for students w/valid college ID.  All children under the age of six are free.

If you are unable to attend tonight's game in Wilkes-Barre, PA you will be able to follow the game via LIVE STATS and/or LIVE VIDEO.  Both are offered free of charge and available on a desktop/laptop computer as well as a mobile device.
 
DeSales/Wilkes History:
Tonight's contest will be the 22nd career meeting between the two teams with the Colonels holding a 17-4-1 lead in the all-time series.  DSU however has won three of the last four games in the series.  WU took this year's meeting, 1-0, at home, and it will be the third career meeting in the postseason with each team winning once.
 
Regular Season Meeting:
Wilkes won the regular season meeting, 1-0, on October 22nd at home.  The Colonels scored the lone goal of the game in the 70th minute and had an 11-6 advantage in shots, while the Bulldogs attempted the only three corner kicks in the game.
 
MAC Freedom Postseason History:
DeSales is making its third straight and sixth overall appearance in the MAC Freedom postseason.  DSU won its lone championship last season, with a 2-1 win over Wilkes in the championship game.  The Bulldogs are 0-2 all-time on the road in the conference playoffs but have not played on the road since the 2006 season.
