Center Valley, PA (November 20, 2016) - The DeSales University women's basketball team committed 27 turnovers falling to St. Vincent College, 67-58, in the championship game of the Morgan Stanley (Easton office) Tip-off Tournament on Sunday afternoon in Billera Hall.

DSU (2-1) committed 27 turnovers leading to 28 Bearcat (2-1) points in the loss.  Senior Morgan McCollian and sophomore Leandra Sterner each were named to the All-Tournament Team for the Bulldogs.  McCollian recorded her first double-double of the season with 20 points and 16 rebounds in the loss, while Sterner had eight points and four steals one day after tallying 17 in the win over Haverford.  Junior Kaitlin Kelly had 10 points, all in the first-half, and sophomore Morgan Birmelin finished with a game-high seven assists for DeSales.

St. Vincent got 23 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and four steals from tournament Most Valuable Player Jasmine Weems and 18 points from Mara Benvenuti who also earned All-Tournament Team honors.  Babette Sanmartin added 15 points in the win.

DeSales dominated play for the first 17 minutes of this game holding a 34-22 lead before SVC ended the first-half on a 9-0 run to pull within three at the break.

The Bulldogs started quickly in the third quarter extending its three-point halftime lead to eight points with the first five tallies including a three-point play from McCollian and a jumper from Sterner.

The Bearcats took control from there using an 11-0 run that included three straight 3's to end the spurt as SVC led 42-39 on the second three from Weems.  Both teams then went scoreless for a 3:25 stretch before the Bearcats led by five after three quarters.

SVC pushed its lead up to 11 points 3:43 into the fourth quarter before DeSales rallied to within four points (60-56) with 2:25 to go on a three from Sterner but SVC clinche the win hitting seven free throws down the stretch preventing a Bulldog comeback.

After shooting 44.8 percent in the opening half, DeSales hit just 32.1 percent from the field in the second-half.  DSU had five 3's in the first-half but hit just one in the second-half.  SVC canned 10 3's in the win, shooting 41.7 percent from deep.  The Bullogs dominated the glass out-rebounding SVC, 46-30.  The Bearcats committed just 11 turnovers.
