Four in Double Digits as Women's Hoops Pulls Away from Arcadia, 82-62

Center Valley, PA (November 30, 2016) - Four Bulldogs led by junior Kaitlin Kelly with a game-high 20 points reached double digits and the DeSales University women's basketball team out-scored Arcadia University by 22 over the final three quarters pulling away for an 82-62 win in non-conference action on Wednesday evening.

The win is #499 for head coach Fred Richter who will get his first shot at joining the 500 win club on Monday when the Bulldogs host Gwynedd-Mercy University in a non-conference game beginning at 7:00 pm.  Kelly finished with 20 points hitting six of 12 from three-point land.  Senior Morgan McCollian notched her second double-double of the season with 17 points and 12 rebounds, adding three blocks, sophomore Leandra Sterner finished with 16 points, five assists, and five steals, and sophomore Morgan Birmelin stuffed the stat sheet with 14 points, nine rebounds, eight assists, and four steals.

Arcadia (3-3) got 19 points from Sammy Downham, 14 points from freshman Sydney Cyr, and 10 points from Maureen Fiocca in the loss.  Imani Alston finished with seven points and 10 rebounds for the Knights.

AU used a 6-0 run midway thru the first period to take its first lead and continued to lead thru the end of the first quarter (17-15).  It was a 25-20 Arcadia lead at the 6:47 mark of the second quarter before the Bulldogs used an 11-2 run to take a 31-27 lead and never looked back from there.

DSU extended that lead to as many as 13 points in the second quarter before taking a 41-33 edge into the halftime locker room.

The second-half was all DeSales as the Bulldogs scored 12 of the first 17 points of the third quarter to take a 53-38 lead as the lead never dropped below double digits and peaked at 26 points the rest of the way.

The Bulldogs shot a season-high 49.3 percent from the field in the win and forced 22 Knight turnovers leading to 29 DSU points.
