St. David's, PA (November 5, 2016) - The DeSales University volleyball team saw its 2016 season come to an end falling to Eastern University, 3-0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-18) in the MAC Freedom championship match on Saturday afternoon.
The Bulldogs finish the year with a 23-13 overall record tying for the second most wins in head coachÂ

Eastern (29-5) hit .304 for the match, committing just 11 hitting errors overall. Â DSU hit a respectable .143 with just 15 hitting errors. Â EU used a 5-0 run early in set one to take control of the first set and hit a match-high .357 for the first set. Â In the second set the Bulldogs seemed to pull within 13-12 midway thru the match before a net violation was called and the Eagles scored nine of the next 13 points to pull away. Â DeSales trailed by just two (10-8) in the third set before Eastern scored eight straight points and the Bulldogs were unable to recover.

Jenna Sievert played well leading DeSales with nine kills and hitting .292 for the match.  SophomoreÂ
Gabby Savite`Â added six kills and nine digs and seniorÂ
Jess Swanson had five kills.  SophomoreÂ
Taylor Antoniewicz finished with four kills and four blocks.

Lisa Wallitsch finished her career with 26 assists and 13 digs in the loss.  She closes out her career as the all-time leader in assists with 4,281 having set a single-season record this year with 1,280.

Natalie Gray had a match-high 17 digs, while junior
Bernadette Wood totaled 11 digs.
