Center Valley, PA (December 29, 2016) - The DeSales University men's basketball team won its fourth straight game, rolling into the championship game of the Al Senavitis Memorial Holiday Tournament, 83-48, over St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) on Thursday evening in Billera Hall.
Thirteen different players scored in the win led by junior
Connor Jones with a game-high 14 points and senior
Brian Laird with 12 points. Freshman
Kweku Dawson-Amoah and sophomore
Luke Connaghan each had nine tallies and freshman
Tracy Simsick and senior
Brandon Bridy had eight points.
DeSales (7-3) never trailed in this one pushing an early one-point lead (8-7) into a 13-point lead with a 12-0 run led by five points from Jones midway thru the first-half and never looked back from there.
DSU led by 20 points (39-19) at the half and saw its largest lead of 38 points with 1:39 left to play.
The Bulldogs held SJC (2-7) to just 31.7 percent shooting and forced a season-high 20 turnovers in the win. The DeSales bench scored 49 points.
DSU will now host Alvernia University in the tournament championship game after the Crusaders held off a second-half charge from Juniata College in the other game on the first day of the tournament for a 66-57 win. Tip for the championship game is set for 7:00 pm.
