Madison, NJ (April 16, 2016) – The DeSales University softball team dropped both ends of a MAC Freedom doubleheader on Saturday afternoon falling 13-1 and 11-8, at FDU-Florham.
Game One (L/1-13)
FDU-Florham (13-9, 7-3 MAC Freedom) jumped out early scoring all 13 of its runs in the first three innings to earn the game one win. DSU (4-21, 1-9 MAC Freedom) scored once in the second inning on a solo home run from sophomore
Andrea Artesani.
Freshman
Madeleine Nasir had two of DSU's five hits in the loss and Artesani suffered the loss in the circle.
Game Two (L/8-11)
Freshman
Leann Panconi gave DSU a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a solo home run but the Devils answered with six runs in the first inning and never looked back from there.
The Bulldogs cut the margin down to 8-5 in the top of the fourth inning with four runs including a three-run home run from senior
Samantha Gibson but FDU answered with three runs of its own before DSU put three more on the board in the seventh on Panconi's second dinger of the game, a three run shot to center field.
Panconi finished the game 2-for-4 with two runs scored and four RBIs. Nasir and sophomore
Haley Frati also had two hits and Gibson knocked in three runs. Panconi took the loss in the circle.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Sunday when they host Lebanon Valley College in a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 1:00 pm.
