Softball Finishes Season at Delaware Valley

Doylestown, PA (April 30, 2016) – The DeSales University softball team finished up its 2016 season dropping both ends of a doubleheader at Delaware Valley University by scores of 2-1 and 3-2 in MAC Freedom action on Saturday afternoon.

Game One (L/1-2)
Delaware Valley (15-16, 6-8 MAC Freedom) scored once in the fourth and once in the fifth to take a 2-0 lead before the Bulldogs (6-29, 2-12 MAC Freedom) got one run back in the sixth on an RBI double from senior Samantha Gibson.

DSU put the tying run at second base with one out in the seventh inning but were unable to push the run across home falling 2-1 in game one.

Sophomore Andrew Artesani took the loss despite pitching well allowing just one earned run over six innings, striking out three.  Gibson and freshman Adrianna Barone each had two hits in the loss.

Game Two (L/2-3)
DVU took a 1-0 lead in the third inning but the Bulldogs grabbed a 2-1 lead with two runs in the fifth inning on a two-run double from junior Alexa Beaumont.  The Aggies tied the game at two in the bottom of the fifth as the game moved to extra innings.

Beaumont doubled once again in the top of the eighth inning to lead off the frame but was unable to come around to score and the Aggies took advantage with a run in the bottom of the eighth on a double and throwing error one batter later by the Bulldogs.

Sophomore Hailey Warner took the loss despite also pitching well allowing just six hits and one earned run over 7 1/3 innings, striking out seven.  Beaumont had two of DSU's three hits in the loss.
