West Lawn, PA (May 9, 2016) – The DeSales University baseball team saw its season come to an end dropping the MAC Freedom Championship game, 12-3, to Misericordia University on Monday evening at Owls Field.
DSU's season comes to an end with a 27-15 overall record as the Bulldogs win 20+ games for the 17
th straight season and for the 22
nd time in the last 23 years. Misericordia (34-11) earns the automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament with the win.
The Cougars started quickly taking advantage of four walks in the first inning scoring five runs to take an early 5-0 lead.
The Bulldogs showed some fight scoring once in the second and third innings as junior
Mike Kacergis scored on a wild pitch and sophomore
Conner Lafferty scored on an error in the third to cut the margin down to 6-2 thru three innings.
Misericordia extended its lead to 10-2 in the fourth scoring four runs on four hits and the Bulldogs were unable to recover the rest of the way.
Sophomore
Adam Donovan took the loss allowing all five runs in the first inning. Freshman
Tommy Epsaro had two of DSU's eight hits.
