Center Valley, PA (September 28, 2016) - The DeSales University volleyball started fast in sets one and three but was unable to hold on late dropping a MAC Freedom match to #13 Eastern University, 3-0 (25-20, 25-16, 25-20) in Billera Hall on Wednesday evening.
DSU (10-6, 2-1 MAC Freedom) came out firing in the first set opening up a 7-2 lead and forcing an Eagle timeout. Â DSU continued to lead 13-8 when EU scored four straight and eight of the next nine points to take a 16-14 lead. Â DeSales fought back to take a 19-18 lead but three straight points put Eastern ahead, 21-19, as they finished off set one.
It was all Eagles in the second set and they came out strong to start the set and never looked back.
In the third set the Bulldogs again started as two straight service aces from sophomoreÂ
Natalie Gray put DSU up 6-3 early.  Eastern answered with five straight points to take an 8-6 lead, but the Bulldogs scored six straight a few points later to take a 13-10 lead.  The match was back and fourth before EU scored three straight to take a 20-18 lead and held on the rest of the way to close out the match.

Morgan Shoemaker led the DSU attack with eight kills and a block.  SeniorÂ
Lisa Wallitsch was tremendous at setter finishing with five kills, 22 assists, and 11 digs, while Gray and fellow sophomoreÂ
Gabby Savite`Â each had 17 digs in the loss.
The Bulldogs are right back to action tomorrow when they travel to Widener University for another non-conference match beginning at 7:00 pm.
