Center Valley, PA (September 7, 2016) – The DeSales University volleyball team swept local rival Moravian College, 3-0, to open its season 5-0 for the first time since 1995 and just the second time in team history on Wednesday evening.
Game scores were 25-23, 25-18, 25-17. DSU overcame a 20-16 deficit in set one, scoring nine of the last 12 points to earn the win. In the second set, freshman
Cristal Fernandez served up seven straight points to give the Bulldogs a 10-3 lead and the Bulldogs cruised from there.
Sophomore
Gabby Savite` led the charge totaling a match-high 17 kills and 10 digs, hitting .417 for the match. Freshman
Morghan Shoemaker added 11 kills and hit .611, not committing an error and sophomore
Taylor Antoniewicz had seven kills and hit .312.
Senior
Lisa Wallitsch totaled 37 assists and eight digs, sophomore
Natalie Gray finished with 13 digs and sophomore
Tanesia Rehrig added eight digs. Fernandez and Gray each had three aces.
The Bulldogs are back in action this weekend at the Buttermaker Tournament at Muhlenberg College beginning on Friday with two matches vs. Ithaca College and the University of Scranton.
