Madison, NJ (January 14, 2017) - The DeSales University men's basketball team saw its eight-game winning streak come to an end falling at FDU-Florham, 72-67, in MAC Freedom action on Saturday afternoon at the Ferguson Recreation Center.
SeniorÂ
Kuity Slanger led the Bulldogs (11-4, 3-1 MAC Freedom) with a season-high 21 points and fellow seniorÂ
Ryan Callahan added 18 points.  SeniorÂ
Brandon Bridy also reached double figures with 11 points.
Donte Ali andÂ
Steve Herdman both had 16 points to lead the Devils (6-9, 3-1 MAC Freedom). Â
Rajaan Dixon andÂ
Darren Davy each had 13 points andÂ
Anthony Mitchell finished with 10 points.
DSU had control midway thru the first-half using a 9-0 run that included seven points from Slanger to take a 26-19 lead. Â Dixon then took over for the Devils hitting four consecutive three-pointers leading a 12-2 run giving FDU a 31-28 lead with 5:26 to play as Florham took a 35-32 lead into the halftime locker room.
Callahan opened the second-half with consecutive buckets to give the Bulldogs a 36-35 lead before a 9-4 spurt pushed FDU back in front 44-40 just under six minutes into the half.
The two teams went back and forth over the next several minutes with Florham holding a six point lead after a three from seniorÂ
Brian Laird, the 200th triple of his career, with 2:26 to go.  A Bulldog defensive stop on the next possession gave the Bulldogs a chance to get within one position but a missed three from Laird and a Callahan missed lay-up on the next possession after another stop spoiled DSU's comeback chances as the Devils hit 5-of-8 from the charity stripe over the final 51 seconds to provide the final tally.
DeSales shot 47.3 percent from the field but hit just 4-of-12 from outside the arc and only converted 57.9 percent from the free throw line in the loss.
The Bulldogs return to action on Wednesday when they host Wilkes University in another MAC Freedom game beginning at 8:00 pm in Billera Hall.
