Immaculata, PA (October 28, 2017) - The DeSales University field hockey team tied the record for most wins in a season in a 4-0 win at Immaculata University on Saturday afternoon to finish up the regular season schedule.
The Bulldogs (11-7) tie the previous mark of 11 wins set during the 2014 season and will now look to better that mark in the MAC Freedom postseason tournament semifinals when they take on FDU-Florham on Wednesday at 7:00 pm.
DSU needed just 4:04 to take an early 1-0 lead on Saturday when sophomore
Christie Hansen (San Diego, CA) scored off an assist from fellow sophomore
Kylie Honnick-Payne (Johnson City, NY). That lead stood into the half before DeSales broke the game open with three second-half goals.
Senior
Kelly Meade (Philadelphia, PA) scored her first career goal just 54 seconds into the second half on an assist from Hansen giving DSU a 2-0 lead.
Honnick-Payne caged her 16th tally of the year at 64:22 off another assist from Hansen moving her just one goal shy of tying the single-season mark of 17 and junior
Chelsea DeFrancisco (Bethlehem, PA) scored her fourth goal of the season at 66:39 to provide the final tally off an assist from Honnick-Payne.
Sophomore
Katarina Polyviou (Cranford, NJ) made six saves to record her fifth shutout of the season in the win. DeSales had a 23-7 advantage in shots and an 11-7 edge in penalty corners.
