Madison, NJ (February 27, 2017) - Junior
Kelly Meade notched her first career hat trick, finishing with three goals and an assist, in a 17-6 loss at Drew University in the DeSales University women's lacrosse team's first-ever road game on Monday afternoon.
Meade netted DSU's first two goals as the Bulldogs (0-2) fell behind by eight (10-2) at the half. DeSales played Drew even thru the first 20 minutes of the second-half with each team scoring three times before the Rangers scored three straight ending any hope of a late comeback.
Impressively, DeSales owned a 13-12 advantage in draw controls and did a terrific job playing defense without fouling, committing just 10 miscues, and allowing just four free position shots. DSU was 4-for-9 on its free position attempts including a 2-for-3 effort from Meade.
In addition to Meade's scoring line, junior
Danielle Burke totaled two goals and freshman
Katie Kingsland had one marker. Meade also paced DeSales with a team-high six ground balls and freshman
Katarina Polyviou forced a team-best two turnovers.
Sophomore
Lori King made seven saves in net.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Friday when they travel to Swarthmore College for another non-conference game set to begin at 4:30 pm.
