Center Valley, PA (April 29, 2017) - The DeSales University saw its playoff chances come to an end dropping both ends of a MAC Freedom doubleheader to Misericordia University, 5-2 and 8-1, on Saturday afternoon in the season finale for the Bulldogs.
DSU (13-25, 4-10) needed to sweep both games from the Cougars (20-18, 8-6) and get one win from King's College today (which did happen) in order to earn the fourth and final spot in the MAC Freedom postseason tournament. Â The two losses means DSU's season comes to a close.
Game One (L/2-5)
Misericordia jumped out early in game one scoring twice in the first, twice in the second, and once in the third inning to take a 5-0 lead. Â The Bulldogs got two runs back in the fifth inning on a two-run home run from sophomoreÂ
Carly Benjamin and had a leadoff double in the seventh but were unable to get the tying run to the plate in the game one loss.
JuniorÂ
Andrea Artesani took the loss allowing four earned over 2 1/3 innings of work.  JuniorÂ
Hailey Warner pitched well keeping DSU in the game with 4 2/3 scoreless allowing just one hit.  FreshmanÂ
Alexa Marasheski had two hits in the loss.
Game Two (L/1-8)
The Cougars again jumped out early scoring twice in the first and third innings before juniorÂ
Haley Frati hit a solo home run in the third inning to get DeSales on the board.  MU added one more in the fourth and put the game away in the sixth with three tallies.
Warner took the loss in game two allowing two earned over four innings of work. Â Six different players had hits for DeSales.
