West Lawn, PA (May 14, 2017) - The DeSales University baseball team saw its 2017 season come to an end with an 8-0 loss to Misericordia University in the MAC Freedom Championship Game on Sunday afternoon at Owls Field.

Misericordia (30-12) earns the automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament with the win, while the Bulldogs season ends with a 26-16 overall record.

The Cougars struck first getting two singles and a sacrifice fly in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead.

It was still a one run game in the fourth when MU scored three runs on a hit batter, error, sacrifice bunt, bunt single, walk, fielder's choice, and two-run, two-out single thru the left side to take a 4-0 lead.

Misericordia added two more runs in the 5th on a two-out, two-run home run from Santo Guinta and two more in the sixth on RBI singles from Jeremy DeCotiis and Tyler Holzapfel to provide the final tally.

Senior Andrew Schuler took the loss for the Bulldogs lasting just 3 2/3 innings allowing four hits and two earned runs.  Senior Tyler Sweeney had three of DSU's seven hits in the loss.
