Doylestown, PA (May 6, 2017) - The DeSales University baseball team clinched the top seed in next weekend's MAC Freedom Baseball Tournament completing the series sweep of Delaware Valley University with a 15-1 and 9-3 win in a MAC Freedom doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.
The Bulldogs finish the regular season with a 25-15 overall record and a 17-4 mark in the MAC Freedom to earn the top seed. Â Misericordia University finishes as the #2 seed, King's College will be the #3 seed, and Manhattanville College will be the #4 seed in next weekend's postseason tournament which will be held at Owls Field in Reading, PA on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Game One (W/15-1)
The first game on Saturday was one-sided quickly as DSU scored six times in the first inning on a three-run home run from sophomoreÂ

Richie Lancashire. Â The Bulldogs added solo runs in the second and third innings, two more in the fifth, another in the sixth, and juniorÂ
Conner Lafferty put the exclamation point on the game one win a grand slam in the seventh inning.
SeniorÂ
Andrew Schuler did the rest tossing his sixth complete-game of the season allowing just seven hits and one unearned run, striking out 12 Aggies (15-18, 6-15 MAC Freedom).
Sophomore
Preston Amato finished 4-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBIs, seniorÂ
Tyler Sweeney had two hits, two runs, and two RBIs, Epsaro had four hits, three runs, and three RBIs, Lafferty had two hits and five RBIs, Lancashire finished with three hits, and seniorÂ
Danny Licamara had two hits for DeSales in game one.
Game Two (W/9-3)
DeSales scored in each of the first three innings, taking a 1-0 lead in the first on a single, stolen base, wild pitch, and error on the Del. Val. catcher scoring seniorÂ
Pat Rhoads. Â In the second seniorÂ
Jesse Smoot and Rhoads each had RBIs, and in the fifth DSU broke it open taking an 8-1 lead after scoring five times during the frame.  Sweeney had a two-RBI single, Epsaro hit a solo home run, Amato had an RBI single, and Smoot walked with the bases loaded forcing in a run.
FreshmanÂ
Ryan Passaro earned the win allowing just three hits and two runs over five innings.  FreshmanÂ
Alex Condello had three hits and two runs scored, while Rhoads, Amato, Sweeney, and Epsaro all had two hits in the game two win.
Epsaro earns
TW Cooper Insurance Player of the Game honors going 6-for-9 with four runs scored and four RBIs in the doubleheader.
