Volleyball Sweeps Two Matches on Opening Night

Center Valley, PA (September 1, 2017) - The DeSales University volleyball team saw four different players post double digit kills and all 15 players in uniform on opening night see action sweeping two matches on day one of the DeSales University Invitational.

Match #1 (W/3-0 vs. Gwynedd-Mercy University)
The Bulldogs rolled past the Griffins, 25-11, 25-20, 25-9, to start the year strong.  DSU hit .321 for the match and held GMU to just -.083 percentage.

Sophomore Morghan Shoemaker led the charge with 11 kills and hit .474, while freshman Noel Kelly had seven kills and hit .700.  Junior Gabby Savite` added nine kills and had five digs and freshman Madison Felty finished with four blocks.

Freshman Julia Bradford dished out 31 assists and had three aces and junior Natalie Gray finished with 11 digs.

Match #2 (W/3-0 vs. Rutgers-Camden)
DSU made short work of the Scarlet Raptors holding the visitor's to just .018 hitting percentage with eight team blocks in the match.

Felty again led the way with five blocks and Savite` added four blocks and 10 digs.  Kelly totaled nine more kills and hit .600, while fellow freshman Grace Merritt finished with seven kills and hit .316.  Shoemaker added six kills and two blocks.

Bradford finished with 29 assists and Gray was outstanding on the back row with 18 digs and four aces.

The Bulldogs wrap-up its home invitational tomorrow hosting Washington College (MD) and Baruch College at Noon and 2:00 pm.
