Bertola Nets Four More in 6-1 Win over FDU-Florham

Center Valley, PA (September 30, 2017) - Senior Angelica Bertola (East Stroudsburg, PA) tied the single-game record and moved into second place on the all-time scoring list with four more goals in the 6-1 win over FDU-Florham in MAC Freedom action for both teams on homecoming Saturday afternoon.

It is the fourth time a Bulldog has scored four goals in a game and the second time Bertola has accomplished the feat.  She also moves into second place all-time with 109 career points (45g, 19a) and is just four points behind Hall of Famer Jeneen Covely for the all-time lead.

She scored the first four goals of the game including the game's first at 27:43 after a deflected clear went right to her in the box and she beat the goalkeeper 1-v-1.  Just 1:48 later she tallied her second taking a pass from sophomore Sydney Amato (East Rockaway, NY) on the right side and pushed a shot pass the charging keeper.

Bertola made it a 3-0 game at the half in the 34th miunte drawing a penalty in the box and then cashing in on the penalty kick.

She got her fourth marker 15:01 into the second-half firing a shot into the net off a failed clear by the Devils' defense.

FDU (6-4, 0-1 MAC Freedom) got on the board in the 72nd minute but senior Gabby Lucchese (Gilbert, PA) and sophomore Sophie Goad (Reading, PA) put the exclamation points on the win with goals in the 83rd and 84th minute both off assists from freshman Rachel Medlar (Coplay, PA).

DSU dominated play out-shooting the Devils' 20-5 and holding a slim 5-4 edge in corner kicks.  Junior Haley Jacobs (Bloomsbury, NJ) had three saves in the win.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Misericordia University for a MAC Freedom game beginning at 5:00 pm.
