Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | BJ Spigelmyer - DeSales SID

Men's Hoops Snaps Skid; Rolls past Delaware Valley, 78-56

Center Valley, PA (January 6, 2018) - Sophomore Kweku Dawson-Amoah (Stewartsville, NJ) scored a game-high 22 points leading the DeSales University men's basketball team past Delaware Valley University, 78-56, in MAC Freedom action in Billera Hall on Saturday afternoon.

Dawson-Amoah was a perfect 7-for-7 from the field and added five rebounds.  Senior Connor Jones (Hawley, PA) added 17 points, sophomore Tracy Simsick (Harleysville, PA) finished with 15 points and senior James Smith (Hillsborough, NJ) had one of the best games of his career with career-highs in points (11), rebounds (5), assists (6), and tied his career-high with three steals.

Brandon Curry was the lone double digit scorer for the Aggies (2-11, 0-2 MAC Freedom).

Both teams started slowly as DSU (10-3, 1-1 MAC Freedom) clung to a 22-20 lead before DeSales finished the first-half on an 11-2 run to take a 33-22 lead into the locker rooms.  Smith had four points and Dawson-Amoah a three-point play during the run.

The lead was nine at the 10-minute mark when the Bulldogs took control using a 19-6 run over the next seven minutes to take a 69-47 lead and never looked back from there.  Smith started the spurt with a three-point play and had seven points, while Dawson-Amoah had six points during the game-clinching run.

DSU shot 59.6 percent from the field and thrived off 18 Aggie turnovers, scoring 25 points off those miscues.  The Bulldogs also committed just 13 turnovers themselves and dished out 19 assists.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Wednesday, January 10th when they travel to Manhattanville College for a MAC Freedom game beginning at 6:00 pm.
