Baltimore, MD (September 30, 2018) - The DeSales University women's tennis team competed at the Goucher College Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.
Below are the results in each flight:
#1 Singles
JuniorÂ
Amber Achenbach earned a 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-1) win over Stephanie Jim (PSU-Abington) in the opening round before falling to Caleigh Masterman (Immaculata), 6-0, 6-0 and Melanie Haas (Lebanon Valley), 6-0, 6-1 to finish in fourth place in the flight.
#2 Singles
FreshmanÂ
Kirsten Kosa had a terrific showing earning a 6-1, 6-1 win over Allie Vaccaro (Delaware Valley) and Emily Steinberg (Stockton), 1-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-2) to earn a spot in the championship match. Kosa fell to in the title match to take second place in the flight, 6-3, 6-0 to Mandile Mpofu (Goucher).
#3 Singles
SophomoreÂ
Alex Rodier earned a 6-2, 6-0 win over Zoe Birch (Lebanon Valley) before falling to Brooke Samuels (Stockton), 6-4, 6-0. In the third place match, Rodier won, 6-4, 6-2 over Caitlin Savage (Immaculata) to take home third place.
#4 Singles
FreshmanÂ
Natalie Clarke earned a 6-1, 6-1 win in the first round over Nguyen (Stevenson) before falling to Elizabeth Lipscomb, 6-1, 6-4. In the third place match, Clarke fell to Katie Marzerka (Goucher), 6-2, 6-1 to take fourth place.
Satellite Singles
JuniorÂ
Joanie Miller earned wins over Brittany Metzlaff (Stockton), 6-2, 6-3 and Sara Healy (Goucher), 6-1, 6-2 but fell to Katelyn Emick (Stockton), 6-3, 6-1 to take second place.
#1 Doubles
SophomoreÂ
Sarah Chan and freshmanÂ
Annie Rakos earned a 6-0, 6-3 win over Fembacher/Searles (Stockton) in the first round. The duo dropped its next match 6-3, 7-5 to Tomasevich/Hartman (Goucher), but rebounded to defeat Sanders/Duong (Lebanon Valley), 7-5, 2-6, 1-0 (11-9) to take third place.
#2 Doubles

Bailey Greco and sophomoreÂ
Kelsey Kazlauskas lost to Wingert/Drda (Lebanon Valley), 6-4, 6-4 in the first round before defeating Schisler/O'Brien (Immaculata), 6-0, 6-2 in the next match. They finished off the weekend with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Mariani/Ly (PSU-Abington).
