Women's Soccer Settles for Scoreless Tie with Widener

Center Valley, PA (September 8, 2018) - The DeSales University women's soccer team had to settle for its second straight tie, finishing in a scoreless draw with Widener University in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.

  • Records: DeSales (1-1-2 overall); Widener (0-2-1 overall)
How it Happened
  • Each team had 2-3 really good chances to get on the board but both goalies were up to the task to record the shutout.
  • DeSales' sophomore Rachel Medlar and junior Barbara Pizarro each had golden opportunities in the second-half with Medlar's shot saved from just about 15 feet outside the goalmouth and Pizarro hitting the post late in the second-half.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Sophomore Lia Gaccione was outstanding in goal making her first start of the year making four saves.
For the Foes
  • Delaney Smith had five saves for the Pride in between the pipes.
Inside the Box Score
  • Widener had a 16-9 advantage in shots but DeSales held the edge in shots on goal, 5-4.
  • The Pride took six of the seven corner kicks in the game.
