Simsick Nets 34 Leading Men's Basketball Past Manhattanville, 92-62

Center Valley, PA (January 16, 2019) - Junior Tracy Simsick scored a career-high 34 points leading the DeSales University men's basketball team to its ninth straight win, 92-62, over Manhattanville College in MAC Freedom action on Wednesday evening in Billera Hall.

How it Happened
  • After the Valiants opened up an 8-2 lead to start the game it was all Bulldogs the rest of the way.
  • DSU out-scored MVC, 17-6, over the next 6:07 to take a 19-14 lead on a three from sophomore Mike Bealer at the 10:53 mark of the first-half.
  • The Valiants regained the lead for a brief period at 22-19 before DeSales finished the last 7:58 of the half on a 25-8 run to take a 44-30 lead into the locker room.
  • The lead never went below double digits in the second-half as DSU led by as many as 31 points before the final tally was posted.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Simsick tallied the seventh most points in a game in DSU history shooting 13-for-23 from the field and hitting six three-pointers.
  • Senior Luke Connaghan added 17 points and pulled down six rebounds.
  • Sophomore Matt Kachelries was just two assists shy of tying the single-game record with 13 helpers.
  • Junior Julian Wing added nine points and five rebounds.
For the Foes
  • Sean Smith Jr. had a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds.
  • Jojo Cobbs finished with 13 points and Connor Yetman added 10 points.
Inside the Box Score
  • DeSales had a 24-8 advantage in points scored off turnovers committing just eight miscues as compared to 14 for the Valiants.
  • DSU shot 52.1 percent from the field and held the Valiants to just 35.3 percent shooting for the game.
