#17/18 DeSales Rolls Past FDU-Florham for 13th Straight Win, 87-41

Center Valley, PA (January 30, 2019) - The #17/18 DeSales University women's basketball team held FDU-Florham to just 25.4 percent shooting to earn its 13th straight win, 87-41, over the Devils in MAC Freedom action on Wednesday evening in Billera Hall.

  • The win is DeSales' 13th straight overall and 15th straight at home.
How it Happened
  • The Bulldogs started quickly yet again out-scoring FDU, 20-5 over the first 5:24 and never really looked back from there.
  • The lead was as many as 29 points in the first-half before DeSales took a 47-19 advantage into the locker room.
  • DSU held FDU-Florham under 30% shooting in all four quarters and dominated the paint out-scoring the Devils, 50-22 in the lane.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Senior Bridget Walsh recorded her third double-double of the season with 11 points and 12 rebounds and added three blocks to become DeSales' all-time leader in blocked shots with 159 rejections.  She surpassed Cherelle Simmons and Morgan McCollian who each had 156 in their careers.
  • Senior Morgan Birmelin added 14 points, four assists, and five steals in just 25 minutes of action.
  • Freshman Samantha Shinkus finished with 13 points and junior Molly Jansco had a strong game off the bench with 13 points.
For the Foes
  • The Devils' got 16 points from Cayla Staggers and 15 tallies from Raven Dowling in the loss.
Inside the Box Score
  • DeSales out-rebounded FDU, 55-33.
  • The Bulldogs forced 21 turnovers and the bench out-scored FDU's, 35-3.
  • DSU shot 17-for-21 (81.0%) from the charity stripe.
